Scientific and educational cooperation is developing within the framework of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and Japan. As part of this cooperation, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) operates in the Republic of Tajikistan.
On February 26, 2025, to further develop scientific and educational cooperation and enhance language learning, the Center for Japanese Studies was opened at the Department of Foreign Languages of the Faculty of Law of the National University. The opening of the Center for Japanese Studies at the National University will facilitate scientific and educational cooperation, strengthen ongoing dialogue, and advance relations between Tajikistan and Japan within the framework of a long-term partnership.
The JICA Chair Program aims to strengthen academic cooperation between Tajikistan and Japan, fostering collaboration between universities and institutions of both countries. This program provides Tajik researchers and students with the opportunity to explore Japan’s experience of modernization and development . By promoting higher education, research, and Japanese studies in Tajikistan, the program will help to improve the educational capacity of Tajik academic institutions while expanding the scope of Japanese studies across the country.
The JICA Chair Program will serve as a central hub for collaboration, enhancing knowledge exchange and fostering joint research initiatives. Through this partnership, Tajik National University, along with other institutions in Tajikistan, will collaborate with Japanese universities to conduct intensive short- term lectures and facilitate academic research, creating lasting ties between the two countries.
