The library of the faculty of Law was founded in 1996 on the initiative of the academician of the Academy of sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan , honoured lawyer of the RT, doctor of Jurisprudence , professor Mahmudov M.A. who has been a dean of the faculty those times. The most active participation in the foundation of our library belongs to the international organisations that wanted to provide assistance to the higher education in jurisprudence in difficult period of our nation. The principle aim of the creation of the library was providing high level of knowledge and common culture of the students of the faculty of Law. American Juridical Consortium, UNCH, Soros Foundation – “Open Society Institution”, Association of young lawyers of Tajikistan –are the main sponsors of the library.
Our library had opened its doors for readers on the 25 of June in 1996 and had been functioning till nowadays. During these years, the book collection stock increased from 500 copies to 14 thousands of books and magazines.
We wanted to express our deep gratitude all organisation that supported in formation our book stock, who purchased and presented us books: UNCH, Soros Foundation – “Open Society Institution», The legal Programme of the Soros Foundation, International Committee of the Rad Cross in Tajikistan, Swiss Society on Cooperation , German Society on technical Cooperation( gtz), АRD/ CHECCI, CADA, Bureau on Human Rights and enforcing law, International legal organisation “ Law and prosperity”, National library named after A. Firdavsi, Central scientific library named after Indira Gandhi of the Academy of Sciences of RT, as well to all those teachers and students who presented books to the library.
Library collaborators are Bakaeva Shamsia Saidovna – the head of the library, and Utikeeva Victoria Nikolaevna. The library of the Faculty has been founded as auxiliary part of the library of TNU on the rights of a reading hall, as it was obvious that possessing only 500 books gave no opportunity to provide home books check – out service to all readers. Unfortunately, such situation is still existing when library found has already 23 thousand copies. Our job is impeded by the small number of high demanded books copies on the principle disciplines lectured at the law faculty. That is the main reason of the books borrowing only in the library reading hall. The reading room of the library possesses 42 seats. Approximately 100 students attend the library every day. Uptime of the library is daily from 8 a.m – to 2p.m, except Sunday and general holidays.
